#COVID-19: Nigeria’s Infection Cases Soar to 601 on Saturday -NCDC

By Chris Udochukwu Abuja (Precise Post) – The Nigeria’s COVID-19 Infection cases soared to 601 on Saturday, bringing the total confirmed cases to 51,905, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported. The agency reported that out of the 51,905 confirmed cases, 38,767 have been treated, recovered and discharged from various isolation centres across the 36 states of the federation and FCT. The NCDC in its report released via its twitter handle, said that the pandemic has not been without casualties, adding that 997 COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded so far in the country since the index case on 27th February 2020. According to the released report, the 601 confirmed cases were reported from 21 states and Lagos State – the epicentre of the novel virus infection, recorded 404 cases, representing 67.2% of the total confirmed cases in the day under review. The remaining 32.8% were recorded from the remaining 20 states where the infections were reported. 106 Persons Escape From Boko Haram Captivity

Kayode Idowu Maiduguri (Precise Post)- One hundred and six persons that escaped from Boko Haram captivity have found their way into the hands of the troops of the Multinational Joint Taskforce. Ninety-four of the escapees who are Nigerians were said to have been released to representatives of the Borno State Government, led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, KakaShehu Lawan. A statement shared on the verified social media handles of Borno State Government said the MNJTF on Tuesday received 106 civilians who escaped from the Boko Haram terrorists. FCT Disinfects School Of Nursing, Gwagwalada In Preparation For Resumption

Covid-19:Germany Records Over 2,000 New Virus Cases

Berlin (Precise Post)- The number of new people confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus in Germany rised again on Saturday at a rate not seen since late April. Over the last 24 hours, health authorities across the country recorded 2,034 new cases. This brings the total number of infections so far to 232,082, the government’s Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for disease control said. The last time the number was higher was on April 25, when 2,055 new infections were reported. Nationwide, there has been a large number of smaller outbreaks, which are connected to events including large family celebrations, according to an RKI report on Friday. Additionally, coronavirus cases have been identified in travellers returning from abroad, especially in the younger age groups. Germany’s epidemic reached its peak in early April, when cases were rising by over 6,000 daily. The numbers had been falling since late July, but that trend has reversed recently, stoking fears of a second wave of infections. Abuja (Precise Post)-The number of deaths from COVID-19 has surpassed 800,000 around the world, according to an AFP tally based on official sources released on Saturday. In total, 800,004 fatalities have been recorded globally, out of 23,003,079 declared infections. Latin America and the Caribbean is the region the most affected with 254,897 deaths. More than half of global fatalities have been reported in four countries: the United States with 175,416, Brazil with 113,358, Mexico 59,610 and India 55,794. The number of deaths has doubled since June 6, and 100,000 have been recorded in the last 17 days alone. The toll had reached 400,000 deaths around the world 147 days after the announcement of the first fatality in China, while it has taken 77 days to reach 800,000. Latin America and the Caribbean, which have a total of 6,575,960 declared cases, reported 17,095 new deaths over the past seven days, slightly below the previous week. NCDC says 340 New Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed; Kaduna Highest with 63, FCT 51

By Chris Udochukwu Abuja (Precise Post) – The Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) has reported that 340 new cases of #COVID19 were recorded in Nigeria on Friday. According to the report released by the agency via it twitter, Kaduna recorded the highest number of infections with 63 new cases followed by the FCT with 51; Plateau came third with 38 new cases while Lagos, the known epicentre of the COBID-19 infection in the country came forth with 33 cases. Others are: Delta-25, Gombe and Adamawa-21 each, Edo-20, Katsina-17, Akwa Ibom-11, Ekiti-10, Rivers-9, Ondo-5, Ebonyi-4, Cross River and Ogun-3 each, Sokoto, Imo and Nasarawa -2 each. The NCDC further reported that the 340 new cases brought the total confirmed cases to 51,304 out of which 37,885 patients have been treated, recovered and discharged from various isolation centres across the country.
