By Francis Etuko Abujaa (Precise Post) – The Senate Committee on Power on Tuesday stepped down the nomination of Kogi state into the Board of the Hydro Power Producing Area Commission, (HYPERDEC) following a Petition signed by interested parties against the candidate, Isah Salami. The committee had the assignment of screening nominees from nine candidates from states cutting across, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Cross River, Benue, Kebbi, Sokoto and Plateau states. Gov Sule Launches Second Phase of Measles Immunization, Commissions Primary Healthcare Facility

Engineer Sule flagged off the exercise at a ceremony that took place in Kana/Apau, in Kokona Local Government Area, on Monday. The Governor, at the event, equally commissioned and took over an ultra modern primary healthcare facility, constructed through the Save One Million Lives initiative, supported by the World Bank, aimed at strengthening the capacity, as well as improving the provision of quality healthcare in the state. Facebook and Google could be required to pay news outlets for their content in “world first” legislation set to be introduced to Australia’s parliament on Wednesday. In one of the most aggressive moves to check the power of the US digital giants, Canberra plans to compel the companies to pay media organisations when their platforms host their content or face millions of dollars in fines. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said the new rules, first mooted in July, will be introduced to parliament Wednesday and are expected to come into effect next year. “This is a huge reform. Umahi scores administration low in housing sector

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State on Monday declared that his administration has scored lowly in the housing sector of the state. Umahi made the declaration during the ground-breaking ceremony of the National Affordable Housing Delivery Programme for Nigerian workers at his home town Uburu, in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state. United Capital Plc has raised N15 billion under the second tranche of its N20 billion commercial paper (CP) issuance programme. It had in April 2020 raised N5.3 billion under the debut Series 1 and 2. The latest Series 3, a 270-day issuance, was issued at a yield of 1.26 per cent and had a subscription of some 112 per cent with firm commitments from a pool of institutional investors, particularly asset managers. The debut Series 1 and 2 issuances, with tenors of 182 days and 270 days respectively, were also subscribed to by individual and institutional investors, with interest significantly tilted towards the 270-day offering. Group Chief Executive Officer, United Capital Plc, Mr. Peter Ashade said the commercial paper issuance was in line with the company’s bid to diversify its funding sources, strengthen its capital base and intensify its strategic initiatives aimed at providing innovative financing solutions to its clients.
