By Chris Udochukwu The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Honourable Nnolim Nnaji has described Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, (NAMA) as a critical safety arm of the aviation sector that should not be ignored. Honourable Nnaji stated this during the committee’s 2023 budget defence meeting with the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika who led the Ministry officials to the National Assembly Tuesday . The Chairman’s remarks were prompted by the omission of the agency in the 2023 appropriation Bill which according to him would be corrected. He however stressed the need for the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika to give clarification on the exclusion of NAMA in the 2023 Federal budge even as he added that his Committee was already deliberating on the issue with Senate committee counterpart to ensure that the anomaly was rectified during appropriation process. Honourable Nnaji noted that the prevailing security challenges have put enormous pressure on the available infrastructures in the industry and as such the country could not afford to neglect the needs of a safety agency like NAMA. Jumoke Bamigboye Jumoke Bamigboye, wife of ex-military administrator of Osun State, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (rtd), has been released from kidnappers den. Mrs Bamigboye was kidnapped on November 5 at Eiyenkorin, a suburb of Ilorin, Kwara State capital. She was reportedly on her way from the family’s farm in Oko-Olowo where she went to supervise garri processing. Mrs Bamigboye, a magistrate and member of Rotary Club International, was released on Monday night by her abductors.“The victim’s release was later negotiated downward to N50 million as at Monday evening,” a source quoted by Leadership said. ASUU Ends NEC Meeting As Union Takes Decision On Fresh Strike

The National Executive Committee of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has ended its emergency meeting.  The meeting which took place in the Federal Capital Territory started on Monday.  Recall that the university lecturers met to discuss whether or not to launch another industrial action after the federal government paid the ASUU members their half-October salaries.  Since Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, president of the union, has not yet released the results of the parley, which ended Monday night, there are still many unanswered questions.  A member of the NEC, however, confided in newsmen that the union has resolved to give the FG more time.  According to him, the union decided to give the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at least two weeks to intervene in the matter and resolve the issue of ‘No Work, No Pay policy.’ “We are considering students who have already returned to the campuses. Minister of Transportation,Mu’azu Sambo Mu’azu Sambo, the Minister of Transportation, has disclosed that to facilitate the completion of rail projects in the country, the Federal Government will borrow funds. Gov Soludo Renames Ministry In Anambra

Gov Chukwuma Soludo Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State,  has approved the renaming of the ministry of commerce and industry. The approval was said to have been given at the state executive council meeting on Monday. Secretary to the state government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, stated this in a press release on Tuesday. He said: “The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi will henceforth be addressed as the Commissioner for Industry. “The Executive Council Meeting of State Government, approved the renaming of the Ministry yesterday.”He said the decision was to enable the Ministry of Industry to focus on the industrialization agenda of the governor, and for greater performance, without bothering about trade and commerce, which used to be part of the ministry. This is as the trade and commerce aspect of the ministry will now be domiciled under the Governor’s Office. Danladi Mohammed Pantami A former Gombe State Commissioner for Economy, Danladi Mohammed Pantami, Budget and Planning under Governor Dankwambo’s regime has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP). This is contained in a letter dated 7th November, 2022, duly signed by Pantami and addressed to the ward chairman of the party, Mallam Sidi Ward, in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State. Terror: UK Warns Citizens To Avoid Traveling To These 22 States

United Kingdom citizens in Nigeria have been told to avoid travelling to 22 states in Nigeria.  It however, cleared the Federal Capital Territory from its terror alert list.  The latest advisory may not be unconnected to the security situation in the country.  This was contained in a press release by the British High Commission, Abuja, on Monday titled, “Updated Foreign Commonwealth Development Office Travel Advice to British Nationals Traveling to the FCT.”  According to the high commission, the purpose of the travel update is to help its nationals make better-informed decisions about international travel and plan for a trouble-free trip.  The statement read, “FCDO travel advice exists to inform British nationals so they can make decisions about travelling abroad. Gov Matawalle Reveals Why Bandits Have Not Been Defeated

Gov Bello Matawalle Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has stated that bandits have not been defeated in Nigeria because of ‘informants’. According to Matawalle, without informants, bandits will be easily defeated in the country. The Governor said this on Monday while receiving five daughters of a former Accountant-General of Zamfara, abducted and held for seven months. They were presented to Matawalle by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 10, Mr Bello Sani-Deljan, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara, Mr Kolo Yusuf. Recall that bandits took the five girls from their home in Furfuri in Bungudu Local Government Area in March. Hushpuppi Finally Sentenced To 11 Years, Three-Month Imprisonment In US

The United States District Court sitting Central District of California has finally sentenced international fraudster, Ramon Abass aka Hushpuppi.  Hushpuppi has been sentenced to 11 years and three months imprisonment for money laundering conspiracy through several online scams.  The judgment was delivered by Justice Otis Wright II, on Monday, and it found Hushpuppi guilty of the allegations including laundering proceeds of a school financing scam, business email compromise and other fraudulent cyber schemes levied against him.  We had earlier reported that Hushpuppi’s verified Instagram account was deactivated by Meta, the parent body of the social media platform where he (Hushpuppi) is known to spend most of his time showing off his affluence.  Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in June 2020 and was extradited to the United States on July 3.
