By Chris Udochukwu The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Honourable Nnolim Nnaji has expressed his sadness over the news of the death of the late Elder Statesman and first Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amechi. The former Aviation Minister who held the title of Dara Akunwafor in Amihe Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government of Anambra State died yesterday, Monday, November first 2022 at the of 93 years. Honourable Nnaji in a condolence lettee he personally signed described the nonagenarian’s death as the end of an era noting that he died at a time his wise counsel was highly desirable. The Aviation Committee Chairman also emphasized that the late Patriarch’s contributions to the development of air transportation in the country as an ex-Aviation Minister remained indelible. He further stated that his death was a big loss not just to the Aviation community but to the entire people of the Southeast extraction and Nigeria in general. Indonesia’s Airports Open Free-visa Gates For G20 Delegates, Journalists

Jakarta, – Indonesia, on Tuesday, announced its free entry visa for foreign delegates and journalists going to Indonesia to attend the G20 summit. The Soekarno-Hatta airport immigration office said those attending the summit can enter the country with free visa via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. According to the authorities, the foreign delegates and journalists will only need to present the required documents, including passports, return or one-way tickets and proofs of registration or invitation letters for attending the summit scheduled to take place in the Bali resort island from Nov. 15 to Nov. 16. Army Decorates 51 Newly Promoted Soldiers In Badagry

By Raji Rasak Badagry (Lagos State), – The 243 Recce Battalion Barracks Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos State on Tuesday decorated 51 newly promoted soldiers from the rank of private to Warrant Officers. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that three soldiers were promoted from the rank of Private to Lance Corporal while 27 were promoted from Lance Corporal to Corporal. Ebola Outbreak: Avoid Non-essential Travel To Uganda – NCDC Warns Nigerians

Following the outbreak in Uganda, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned Nigerians against non-essential trips to the East African country. The NCDC in a statement released on Monday, October 31, said it has put up several measures to prevent and mitigate the impact of a potential outbreak in Nigeria, including the development of an incident action plan and heightening of point of entry (POE) surveillance. Nigerians were warned against non-essential travel to Uganda for now until public health authorities have determined the outbreak to be contained. Nigeria’s First Aviation Minister, Chief Amechi, Dies At 93 Years.

Chief Amechi who hailed from Amihe village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra died on Tuesday in a brief illness, his family has stated. The elder statesman was the only surviving member of the Zikist Movement of the pre-independence era. The family’s statement signed by Ezeana Tagbo Amechi, his son read in parts that “Amechi, nationalist and First Republic Minister of Aviation transited peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022. “We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives that he touched and his service to God and to country. “We respectfully ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers at this time.’’ (NAN)

Floods, Landslides Kill 110, Affect Over 2.4m In Philippines

Manila, – The Philippines’ disaster agency, on Tuesday said floods and landslides, triggered by a tropical storm in the country, have killed 110 people, affected almost 2.4 million. According to the agency, 33 people are still missing, while more than 100 persons have been injured. The agency added that 59 of the dead were from the southern province of Maguindanao, where more than 100 houses were swept away by floods or buried in landslides. It said 16 were still missing in Maguindanao, but authorities said it was less likely for survivors to be found at this point. The agency said 22 of the fatalities were from the Western Visayas region, while 12 were from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna and Batangas, just south of Manila. The affected areas have suffered widespread flooding after storm Nalgae brought heavy rains days before it made landfall in the eastern Philippines on Saturday. 2022 budget: Kaduna Govt spends N181.6bn in 9 months – Report

By Philip Yatai Kaduna, – The Kaduna State Government has spent N181.6 billion from January to September, representing 64 per cent budget performance of the N279.6 billion revised budget for 2022. This is contained in the Third Quarter2022 Budget Performance Report produced by the Office of Accountant-General with support of the Planning and Budget Commission. The report, obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Tuesday shows that of the amount, N117.5 billion was spent on capital projects. This represents 63.5 per cent of the N185.1 billion allocated for capital projects in the 2022 budget, leaving a variance of N67.6 billion. Similarly, N64.3 billion was spent on recurrent expenditure, representing 67.8 per cent performance of the total N94.5 billion recurrent budget for the year, with a variance of N30.4 billion. On revenue, the report shows that N188.4 billion was realised as revenue within the period, representing 67.3 per cent revenue performance for the year, leaving a variance of N91.3 billion. Of the N188.4 billion revenues, N38.9 billion was Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) with N7.4 billion collected in …
