SSACSGOC Sec. Gen Comrade Kayode Alakija Othman Balarabe made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in Jos yesterday. According to him, the story which was published by Sahara Reporters and attributed to a group, Coalition of Northern Human Rights Groups (NHRG) was based on a protest letter by the group, to the office of the Minister of Trade and Investment (Sic), alleging lopsided appointments and monetization of the promotion process, fraudulent awards of contracts, mandate deviation, nepotism and outright diversion of public funds, against the DG and Management of the ITF. Two women who were formerly the staff of Twitter, have dragged the company to court. The woman who lost their jobs after Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter have now sued the company. The former employee alleged that the layoffs disproportionately affected female employees. The world’s richest person immediately fired Twitter’s top executives when he took over in October, and a week later, fired half the company’s 7,500 staff members. Those fired include chief executive Parag Agrawal; chief financial officer, Ned Segal, and head of legal policy, trust and safety, Vijaya Gadde. The reported firings follow news that Musk planned to eliminate nearly 75% of Twitter’s staff in an effort to pay down the company’s debt. Musk later dismissed those reports, telling employees he would not cut such a large portion of the staff. Customs Seize 2,375 Litres Of Petrol In Kebbi

NAN reports that the Nigerian Customs Service, Kebbi State Command, has made some interceptions. The command intercepted about 2,375 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit popularly called petrol loaded in jerricans as well as a used BMW vehicle in the month of November. During the month under review, the command also intercepted smuggled 303 bales and 94 sacks of second-hand clothing, and 58 bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50 kg each; among others with a duty paid value of 46,706,795.00. This was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Joseph Attah, on Thursday while showcasing the seized items by the Command in the last month. He also confirmed that the command under his watch make over N127 million in revenue within the same period. Giving a breakdown of its activities, Attah said that the command generated N127,839,390.75 as revenue from mostly import of goods into the country through the Kamba border. Mr Olugbenga Ayegbusi, the Passport Control Officer ( PCO) in charge of the Ikoyi Passport Office of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has given some assurances to Nigerians in diaspora. He assured Nigerians that would be visiting the country at yuletide of unfettered passport renewal, in case they fly in with expired passports. Deputy Comptroller of Immigration ( DCI) Ayegbusi gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos. He said that contrary to rumours that the process is difficult in Nigeria, it is easier provided there is no breach of process or policies by such passport holders. NNPC To Fund Road Projects With N1tn – Mele Kyari

Mele Kyari Mele Kyari, the Chief Executive officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, has disclosed that the NNPC will provide additional N1tn for road projects in the country. Kyari made the announcement in Lagos on Thursday, December 8, during a tour of the construction exercise ongoing at the Agbara-Badagry road project. He said the N1tn would be invested on road projects through the Federal Government road infrastructure tax credit scheme. A socio-political activist, Reno Omokri has alleged that some politicians are expressing anger over the new withdrawal policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria because they believe in using cash to rig elections.
