Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that when his tenure expires on May 29, 2023, he will be faraway from Abuja.  According to Buhari, he is looking forward to retiring to his hometown, Daura in Katsina already.  The President who hosted some residents of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who paid him Christmas homage, said he’s hoping to be far away from Abuja and the challenges that comes from leading the country.   Buhari said; “I congratulate you on this great day (Christmas). Trigger-happy Policeman Kills Lawyer On Christmas Day (Photo)

A police officer attached to the Lagos State police command has killed a lawyer identified as  Bolanle Raheem.  She was shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman under questionable circumstances in the Ajah area of Lagos State.  It was gathered that the lawyer, her sister, and four children were coming from an eatery in their car around 11am when the police operative tried to stop them but shot at the driver.  The officer who was in the company of a team of police operatives was said to have fled the scene after shooting the woman just as she was trying to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge according to sources.  The woman was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead.  Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, described it as unfortunate and avoidable.  He however added that the affected officer has been arrested and is in custody while investigations go on.  He wrote: “Unfortunate and avoidable incident that was. Food Prices Continue To Rise In November – NBS

By Okeoghene Akubuike Abuja, – The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said that prices of selected food items increased in November. This is, according to the NBS Selected Food Prices Watch Report for November 2022, released in Abuja on Monday. The report said that the average price of 1kg boneless beef on a year-on-year basis, increased by 29.00 per cent from N1,812.03 recorded in November 2021 to N2,337.46 in November 2022. “While on a month-on-month basis, 1kg boneless beef increased by 3.14 per cent from N2,266.24 recorded in October 2022.” It showed that the average price of 1kg rice (local) increased on a year-on-year basis by 18.95 per cent from N421.02 in November 2021 to N500.80 in November 2022. “On a month-on-month basis, the average price of this item increased by 2.73 per cent from N487.47 recorded in October 2022. ” The report said the average price of 1kg of tomato on a year-on-year basis rose by 30.18 per cent from N350.15 in November 2021 to N455.13 in November 2022. “Also, on a month-on-month basis, 1 kg of tomato increased by 0.15 …

How terrorist kingpins, over 100 others were neutralised in air strike

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has neutralised over 100 terrorists including some of their leaders in an airstrike on Dec. 20, in Borno. This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Director Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet. He said that the interdiction mission was conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) at Mantari village in Gezuwa general area, Bama Local Government Area of Borno. Australian Associated Press A plane that went missing on Christmas Day over the Northern Territory has crashed in remote bushland, killing a man and a woman. Police and investigators were on Monday working to access the crash scene after a single-engined light aircraft missing in Arnhem Land was located in dense bushland near Bulman. Federal investigators said the Cessna 210N aircraft collided with terrain and left a debris field scattered over a large distance. The plane with a 22-year-old male pilot and 43-year-old female passenger on board had been due to land in Tindal, south-east of Katherine, about midday on Sunday. Northern Territory police said no further information would be available on Monday due to the crash’s remote location and the investigation being in its infancy.
