Adejobi on Sunday posted on the Police/Media Chat Platform, stressing that the Nigeria Police Force does not pay the salaries of its personnel, but the Office of the Accountant General (AG) and the IPPIS. Parents of Kebbi students abducted by terrorists beg Nigerians for ransom

Parents of the 11 remaining abducted female students of the Federal Government College, Yauri, in Kebbi State, have appealed to Nigerians for financial aid. They are seeking assistance for payment of the ransom demanded by the terrorists holding the hostages. In an open letter by the “Committee of Parents of 11 Abducted Students of F.G.C Birnin Yauri”, the parents disclosed the abductors have demanded N100 million. Chairman and Secretary, Salim Ka’oje and Daniel Alkali said their children (aged 12-16 years) have been in captivity for about 20 months. The girls were among those kidnapped when bandits invaded the school on June 2021. Some are now teenage mothers, while others were pregnant as of November. Thousands of commuters are currently stranded on the Abuja-Keffi ExpressWay as the Federal Government on Sunday morning closed a section of the major Ado Bridge for repairs to avert its collapse. The commuters who embarked on early Sunday trips to various parts of the Northern and Eastern parts of the country are presently in the scorching heat of the sun as their vehicles are held up in long queues of more than ten kilometres. Unknown gunmen suspected to be Eastern Security Network, ESN, militants have attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Imo State, killing one in the process. It was gathered that the gunmen, who were about 20 in number, operated with two SUVs, one blue-coloured Lexus and an ash-coloured Highlander. By Polycarp Auta Jos, – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said 16 persons died and 83 sustained various degrees of injury in the truck accident involving PDP supporters in Plateau. The FRSC said that the truck was conveying 99 supporters of the Poeples Democratic Party (PDP) when it crashed on Saturday evening at Jwak, Panyam District of Mangu Local Government Area of the state.  Mr Peter Longsan, the FRSC Public Enlightenment Officer in Plateau, disclosed this in statement on Sunday in Jos. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP supporters were returning from the party’s zonal rally held in Pankshin.   ”It was a lone crash involving a truck conveying people from a political campaign rally of the PDP. ”99 people were involved, 16 people, mainly adult males were killed in the crash, while 83 sustained various degrees of injury. ”The unfortunate incident occurred as a result of excessive speeding and overloading, which led to loss of control that resulted to the crash,” he said.
