Ogun state – Police Command on April 28, arrested a member of a notorious ritualist syndicate who allegedly killed and dismembered the body of one Oyindamola Adeyemi at Ijebu Ode on the 28th of January 2023. The suspect, 35-year old Ifasoji Ayangbesan, whose other members of his gang had earlier been arrested, was apprehended following a painstaking intelligence-based investigation embarked upon by detectives from Obalende divisional headquarters, which led them to his hideout at Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu Ode.  The suspect who has been indicted by the earlier arrested members of the syndicate as the person who bought the two legs of the victim, took to flight immediately he heard that he has been mentioned by his colleagues.  Since then, the DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, has detailed his detectives to be on his trail with the view to arrest him and possibly recover the deceased two legs from him and prosecute him with his colleagues in crime. 13 Escape Death, One Missing As Two-storey Building Collapses in Calabar

At least 13 persons escaped death when a two-storey building under construction collapsed in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.  The incident occurred on Nta Eke Street, along the Efio-Ette axis of Ikot Ishie on Saturday, April 29, 2023 when workers were trying to complete the second decking of the building.  It was gathered that medical and other relevant personnel were deployed to rescue the victims and convey them to the hospital. The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Eric Anderson, in the statement, said the investigation showed that the cause of the building collapse, was not unconnected to negligence and the use of sub-standard building materials. Abducted Imo Catholic Priest Regains Freedom

A Catholic church priest, Rev Fr. Michael Ifeanyichukwu Asomugha, who was kidnapped in Imo State, has regained his freedom.  Asomugha is the assistant parish priest of the St. Paul’s Catholic church in Osu, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. He was kidnapped on Saturday, April 15, 2023, along Oriagu-Obowo Road while on his way back from the Diocesan Diaconate Ordination.  The Vitam Missionaries and one of his parishioners, Chinedu Osuji, confirmed on Sunday morning that the cleric had been freed on Saturday, April 29, 2023 and is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.  “Fr Michael Asomugha of St Paul’s Catholic Church OSU in Anara has been freed from his abductors, we have been praying and offered daily Holy Masses for his freedom, stigmatist Rev Sister Martina Oforka also helped with her prayers. Nigerian man arrested for allegedly killing Nigerian woman in India

A 40-year-old Nigerian national, Obinoze Alexander, has been arrested for allegedly killing a fellow citizen identified as Flora Gold in South Delhi, India. The body of the woman was found wrapped in bedsheets and tucked away in a box bed on Friday, April 28, 2023.  DCP (South) Chandan Chowdhary said that they received a PCR call from a person who claimed that a foul smell was coming from inside a flat in Maidangarhi.  “The caller said that a foul smell was coming from a flat on the third floor of the Sriman apartment.
