A veteran Nigerian pop musician, Chris Mba, who was reportedly down with heart disease, is dead. The Abia State-born artiste died on Wednesday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH. Ali Rabiu, a 20-year-old security guard, has been dragged to court. He was arraigned by the Police, on Thursday, before a Kado Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing diesel. Senate Proposes Life Jail For Unlawful Explosives Maker

Abuja – The Senate on Wednesday May 3, passed the bill recommending life imprisonment without an option of fine for unlawful explosives manufacturers in the country. Section 11 of the bill seeking to repeal the Explosives Act 1964 and enact the Explosives Act 2023 passed for third reading in the Senate on Wednesday. The bill states that, “Any person who unlawfully manufactures any explosives, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to life imprisonment without an option of fine.” The passage followed the consideration and adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Mines, Steel Development and Metallurgy, chaired by Senator Tanko Al-Makura. Abuja – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) have approached a federal high court in Abuja to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour, seeking the probe and prosecution of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. Keyamo had filed a lawsuit seeking a court order for the law enforcement agencies to arrest the former vice president following an audio recording released by Michael Achimugu, Atiku’s former aide. Kano, – The Police Command in Kano State has  confirmed the alleged murder of Jummai, who was stabbed by her teenage son, Iro Kwarangwal of Rimin Kebe Quarters in Kano. IMF Chief Says Avoiding New Form Of Protectionism key To Robust Recovery

Washington, – Kristalina Georgieva, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director on Thursday said the world has to avoid the temptation to fall back on protectionism on its way to economic recovery.
