US Debt Ceiling Talks Are Moving Along – Biden says

WASHINGTON. – President Joe Biden said on Saturday that talks with Congress on raising the U.S. government’s debt limit were moving along and more will be known about their progress in the next two days. “I think they are moving along, hard to tell. We have not reached the crunch point yet,” Biden told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. “We’ll know more in the next two days,” he said. Biden is expected to meet with Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other congressional leaders early next week to resume negotiations. The leaders had canceled a planned meeting on Friday to let staff continue discussions. Aides for Biden and McCarthy have started to discuss ways to limit federal spending as talks on raising the government’s $31.4 trillion debt ceiling to avoid a catastrophic default creep forward, Reuters has reported. The Treasury Department says it could run out of money by June 1 unless lawmakers lift the nation’s debt ceiling. (Reuters)

Furthermore, according to UNICEF, 25 million Nigerians are at risk of hunger, with 10 million children out of school and many facing pervasive insecurity. Given the foregoing, the 10th Senate must work particularly hard to turn Nigeria’s economic fortunes, as mandated by the constitution in sections 80 and 81. In order to moderate and properly manage Nigerians’ foreign loans, the Nigerian Senate must utilize its authority in addressing loan …

Why northern governors supported Tinubu – Masari

Katsina Governor, Aminu Masari has disclosed why Northern Governors supported the presidential ambition of President-elect Bola Tinubu. The governor made the revelation on Thursday in Daura during a farewell visit to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq-Umar. Masari said All Progressives Congress (APC) governors backed Tinubu due to to their respect for the zoning arrangement. “God had saved us from shame during the last general elections where the APC recorded huge successes,” he said. Masari noted that the current administration would have been regarded as a failure had the party lost the presidential poll. “God helped President Muhammadu Buhari to defend his integrity, because if we had failed in the election, he would be the first to be blamed.” The governor added that he and his colleagues had foresight and saw the attempts to tarnish the Nigerian leader’s image. Why Archbishop Of Canterbury Fined, See Why

Barely six days after anointing King Charles III, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby was prosecuted in court for speeding, it emerged on Friday. The offence occurred on October 2, and the leader of the worldwide Anglican communion tried three times to pay the £300 ($375) fine in order to avoid court action, a Lambeth Palace spokesperson said. “He has all the paperwork to prove that he has tried to pay. Admin errors seem to be causing problems,” the spokesperson told AFP. “He hadn’t been notified that it had gone to court.” After the fine went unpaid, a court prosecution followed automatically and the 67-year-old archbishop on Wednesday had three penalty points slapped on his driving licence. Under UK law, if a motorist gets 12 or more points within three years, they can be banned from driving. The prosecution occurred on the same day that Welby intervened in a House of Lords debate to say the UK government’s plan to send asylum-seekers to Rwanda was “morally unacceptable”. And it came shortly after the cleric on Saturday presided at the Westminster Abbey …

Ten Hag’s side are just one point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool as they try to cling on to fourth place.
