Following the disgrace he suffered some days ago at the venue of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, Lamidi Apapa has been spotted leaving the tribunal venue with security escorts. Recall that last Wednesday, he had unsuccessfully attempted to claim a seat at the official sitting position for party officials. After his inability to successfully claim the seat, the Apapa who claims to be the party’s acting chairman was whisked out of the court with boos and jeers from some party supporters outside the courtroom. Gunmen Kidnap Corps Members Returning From Camp In Rivers

Some gunmen have struck hard, adducting some corps members. They gunmen reportedly kidnapped some National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. It was gathered that the victims were on their way back from the recent orientation camping exercise in Ondo State. They were abducted around 9 p.m., Tuesday, on their way to Port Harcourt. The incident was confirmed by a witness, who called a radio station in the city to announce the abduction of her sister-in-law and colleagues. The witness said the corps members were abducted on the Rumuji axis of the East-West Road in Emohua, Rivers State. Five of the corps members were said to have escaped the abduction and reported at the Rumuji Divisional Police Station. Number of victims abducted by the kidnappers could not be ascertained at press time. Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong, has deployed a police tactical team to track down gunmen who abducted the NYSC members at Rumuji. The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig Gen YD Ahmed has given his verdict on the NYSC certificate of Enugu State Governor-elect, Barr Peter Mbah. Ahmed said the discharge certificate being paraded by Mbah was not issued by the body. Brig Gen Ahmed who was a guest on Arise Television’s breakfast programme, Friday, said the argument on whether Mbah has a valid NYSC certificate or not, does not arise because he has told the PDP candidate in the 2023 governorship elections that what he presented as a certificate was fake. “He came to me and I called my director to confirm the certificate and we discovered that the certificate was fake and I told him…I wonder how elites who have gone to school will resort to black market certificates. “Everyone knows how we issue our certificate in NYSC we don’t give it in hotel rooms or houses,” the DG said. BREAKING: Court Nullifies Alex Otti’s Candidature, All Labour Party Candidates In Abia, Kano

The candidature of the Abia State Governor-elect Dr Alex Otti and all the candidates of the Labour Party in Abia and Kano States have been nullified by a Federal High Court sitting in Kano, presided over by Justice M N Yunusa. The court ruled that their emergence was not in compliance with the provisions of the 2022 electoral act. A copy of the judgement delivered by the court was obtained Friday morning by DAILY POST. The Court in Suit No FHC/KN/CS/107/2023 filed by Mr Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim against the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ruled that the failure of the Labour Party to submit its membership register to the INEC within 30 days before their primaries renders the process invalid. “The party that has not complied with the provisions of the electoral act cannot be said to have candidate in an election and cannot be declared winner of an election; this being so, the votes credited to the 1st defendant is a wasted vote,” the Judge ruled.
