Gombe: NUJ National Delegation Concludes Tour, Hails Gov Inuwa For Strides In Education, Road construction(Photos)

Gombe (Precise Post) – The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mr. Christopher Isiguzor has commended the giant trides of Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, especially in the areas of education, road construction and other sectors.

The NUJ President who led a delegation of the national leadership of the union on a 3 day working visit to Gombe as part of their nationwide tour, said they were impressed with the Governor’s efforts in providing dividends of democracy to his people.

Mr. Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), to Governor Inuwa Yahaya , disclosed this on Saturday in a statement sent to Precise Post.

According to him, “while inspecting some road projects network at the Jeka da fari north ward, GRA and the ongoing construction of the NUJ press centre, Mr Isiguzor described Governor Inuwa Yahaya as one of the most committed and prudent leaders in the nation who manage the little resources at their disposal to provide much for their people, singling out the ‘network Eleven-Hundred’ road construction initiative for special commendation.

The NUJ President said that he will ensure that the media during his leadership partners with the Inuwa Yahaya’s government to promote the laudable developmental activities being carried out by his administration.

At all the places visited, Mr. Isiguzor was full of praises to Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration for recording remarkable achievements within short time, especially the efforts he is making towards revamping the education sector as well as other infrastructural developments.

It will be recalled that ,the NUJ president and his team had earlier paid a courtesy call on Governor Inuwa Yahaya at the government house, where the state chief executive restated his readiness to support journalists to perform their duties effectively as well as ensure their security and that of the generality of the people.

The Governor declared that his idea of journalism is to set agenda and make Government accountable especially to its promises to the people.

He urged the visiting team not to hide anything they see from Gombe to the world, saying , “as you go round to see what we are doing, feel free to criticize us as we are ready to make amends”.

The NUJ delegation also met with the state Commissioner of Information and Culture, Ibrahim Alhassan Kwami who disclosed that soon Gombe media corporation will witness a total overhaul of both structures and equipment.

The Commissioner lauded the role of the media in enlightening the public on government policies and programmes, stressing the present administration’s resolve to give the state’s media house a facelift.

The delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Education, Dr Habu Dahiru in his office.
