Ondo State Assembly Partners With Police To Tackle Insecurity

Akure – The Ondo State House of Assembly, is to collaborate with the Nigerian Police in the efforts to rid the state of crimes.

The Majority Leader of the House, Jamiu Maito, made this disclosure on Friday at an interactive session between the lawmakers and security chiefs in Akure.

Maito, who represented the speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, promised to join hands with the police and other security agencies to make Ondo State a peaceful place to live in.

He lauded the police chief for the noticeable improvement in security, especially kidnapping along the notorious Owo/Akoko axis, and urged him to do more to sustain the tempo.

The majority leader also drew the attention of the police commissioner to other thriving crimes such as cultism, rape, robbery among others.

Also responding, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, threw more light on the purported release of one arrested robber from Ikare Akoko area among other crimes.

Adie noted that the police was still on the trail of the escapee robber, adding that one of his accomplices had been tracked and arrested.

The police commissioner vowed that any of his officers, who had hand in the release of the robber would not be spared.

He equally pledged to do more in order to sustain the tempo of the current war on crime in Ondo State.

Adie sought the cooperation of the lawmakers as people’s representatives in tackling criminality and also urged traditional rulers and community leaders to give useful information to the police.

He enjoined them to be more vigilant and report any strange movements to the police.
