Authorities of Seychelles Island have said that an increase in drug trafficking and fraudulent activities by Nigerian passport holders have forced them to tighten their border against Nigerian passport holders. In a chat with reporters on Thursday, July 13, the Vice President of Seychelles, Ahmed Afif, said that Nigerians with diplomatic passports, valid work or resident permits issued by the island nation will be allowed to enter. “For the others, the government will keep its eyes open and SEBS (Seychelles Electronic Border System) will analyse much more to find out what reasons they are coming example someone who is coming for a holiday for only one day. Turkey probes social media plea for international aid to combat fires

Istanbul, Aug. 5, 2021 (dpa/NAN) Turkish prosecutors on Thursday launched an investigation into a social media campaign seeking international support to help combat the wildfires that continued to burn in the south of the country. The public prosecutor’s office in Ankara is investigating social media accounts on suspicion of “generating fear and panic” and inciting hatred among public, according to state news agency Anadolu. The accusations also included insulting the state and the president. In the past, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government had temporarily banned social media platforms such as Twitter and YouTube on similar allegations. Lagos council bans Danfo, Okada, Keke Marwa

The Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area in Lagos has banned the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Marwa) operators in Ajegunle. The Chairman, Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, in a statement, said the ban would remain effective pending the conclusion of investigations into the recent looting, arson, and destruction of buildings, properties, bank facilities and vehicles inside the council secretariat. FIFA Bans Former Federation President For Life

World football ruling body FIFA has banned the former president of Panamanian football federation, Ariel Alvarado for life on Thursday after finding him guilty of bribery. Reuters reports that FIFA also fined him 500,000 Swiss francs (390,821.19 pounds). Alvarado was investigated in relation to matches organised by the Panamanian Football Association. The investigation was also related to contracts for Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) media and marketing rights between 2009 and 2011.
