AJSS1 female student at Mary Immaculate Secondary School , Ado- Ekiti, Miss Gift Agenoisa, has sued the Ekiti Government before a state High Court, seeking N15m in damages for breach of fundamental human rights. In a suit number HAD/01/CR/2021 and sworn to at the Ado-Ekiti High Court on her behalf by Mrs. Odunayo Agenoisa, the student claimed that her suspension from school by government infringed on her rights. The plaintiff described as “cruel and inhuman” the alleged treatment meted to her for coming to school with “indecent hairstyle.” Joined in the suit are the school principal, Mrs. Oluwasanmi F.M (first respondent), the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye (second respondent), the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (third respondent) and the Ekiti State Government (fourth respondent). 3 New Confirmed Cases in Ekiti Traced to Woman Who Died of COVID-19

By Chris Udochukwu Ekiti – The three new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Ekiti state, as announced Friday night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have been linked to the woman who died of the dreaded disease, the state government has officially said. The government said the three new COVID-19 cases were among those infected with the virus by the now late 29-year old pregnant woman. The pregnant woman was earlier reported to have sneaked into the state from Lagos, but later died of the complications arising from the virus after she was delivered of her baby. The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Mojisola Yahaya-Kolade, disclosed this in a statement in Ado Ekiti. “We can confirm that three of the samples sent to the NCDC accredited laboratory for testing returned positive results of the COVID-19 virus infection. “The samples were from three of the primary contacts of our third case – the late 29-year-old mother who died of complications from childbirth on April 22, 2020,” she said. Fayemi, Deputy, Political Appointees to Get Salary Cut of 50% – Ekiti Govt

By Our Reporter Ado Ekiti – Governor Kayode Fayemi, his deputy and all political appointees in the state will be getting a 50% slashed of salary with immediate effect, the Ekiti state government has directed. Chief Muyiwa Olumilua, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, disclosed in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday that Gov. Fayemi gave the salary cut directive. He said the development was due to the ravaging effects of the COVID-19 scourge. “The global economy has been severely affected and it has affected Nigeria’s economy as a nation and expectedly, Ekiti. ” As a responsive and responsible government, we have taken stock of our financial situation,” he said. Ekiti Government Approves Downward Review of 2020 Budget

By Agency Reporter Abuja (Precise Post) – The Ekiti State Executive Council on Thursday approved a downward review of the state’s 2020 budget in the face of dwindling revenue occasioned by the fall in global oil prices and the raging COVID-19 pandemic. The downward review was approved at an executive council meeting held through video-conferencing in Ado Ekiti due to the coronavirus. The state Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Chief Muyiwa Olumilua, told newsmen after the meeting that the downward review was necessitated by the coronavirus and the drop in global oil prices. COVID 19: Ekiti Begins Teaching of Primary School Pupils on Radio

Results Of Ekiti Teachers’ Qualifying Examination Out

By Idowu Gabriel Ado-Ekiti – The Ekiti Government says it has released the results of the qualifying examination for candidates seeking employment as teachers in its public primary schools. The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) announced the results in a statement signed by the board’s Chairman, Prof., Francisca Aladejana, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Friday. The statement directed candidates who sat for the examination to check their results online on the state’s website, www.ekitistate.gov.ng/jobs. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the SUBEB qualifying examination was conducted on Sept. 21 across designated centres in the state. The statement said that only candidates who scored 50 marks and above in the examination were qualified for the next round of interview. It further stated that the interview would hold at the Pope John Paul II Pastoral Centre in Ado-Ekiti between Oct. 8 and Oct. 11. (NAN)
