By Alao Abiodun. After the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria, the Federal Government has joined Koo, an Indian microblogging platform, The Nation has learnt. The Nation reports the Federal Government last week alleged Twitter was being used to undermine “Nigeria’s corporate existence”. The suspension of the platform since last Friday forced some Presidential aides and agencies to join Koo. The Nation observed Personal Assistant to President Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad; Special Assistant on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi and others have joined the app. The Koo account, with the handle, “@nigeriagov” and username, “Government of Nigeria” has over 10,000 followers as at time of report. Ahmad, who had already registered a Koo App account, took to his Facebook page to invite followers to join and engage with him on the new social media app. “Just for trial to see how Koo works. COVID-19 Death Toll Hit 1,361 as 1,244 New Cases Are Confirmed – NCDC

The health agency in a report released via it’s twitter handle said that the total confirmed cases have risen to 101,331 out of which80,491 patients have been discharged. The administration stated that the move was to curb the spread of  the second wave of COVID-19. The Chairman, Federal Capital Territory Ministerial Task Team on Enforcement of COVID-19 Regulations, Ikharo Attah, disclosed this to The PUNCH on Tuesday. Attah explained that his team had recommenced the enforcement of the health protocols, adding that 20 persons were arrested for not wearing face masks in the public.‌ The task force chairman also disclosed that seven vehicles were arrested for overloading and failing to adhere to social restrictions guidelines as stipulated by the FCTA. FAAN Denies Release of Guidelines for Flight Resumption

By Our Reporter Ikeja – Contrary to the news making rounds,   The post COVID-19 travel guidelines for air travellers is yet to be released, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said. The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday. She said: “Our attention has been drawn to a statement released by a certain Tayo Olu to the effect that the federal government, through FAAN has released a post-COVID-19 travel guideline for air travellers. “We want to state emphatically that although FAAN is carefully and seriously working on a guideline, the release did not emanate from us as it is still a work in progress.” Yakubu said, consequently, the authority would like to advise air travellers and the general public to disregard the speculation.
