Oyo (PRECISE POST) – The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology and Supervising DIG for the South-West, Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke, has launched a regional security tour aimed at tightening law enforcement operations and deepening public trust, starting with a high-level engagement at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele.
The strategic visit convened police officers, community stakeholders, and local representatives for talks on curbing crime, bolstering police-community relations, and sharpening operational efficiency across the South-West.
Receiving the DIG, Oyo State Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbemiga described the engagement as a major boost to ongoing security efforts. He restated the Command’s resolve to protect lives and property through sustained, proactive measures against emerging threats.
Addressing personnel, DIG Fayoade commended the Command for its discipline and professionalism but charged officers to stay committed to their constitutional mandate. He urged them to uphold the rule of law, preserve public confidence, and shun corruption and misconduct in all forms.
He stressed that effective policing depends heavily on community involvement, calling on residents to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to aid crime prevention and detection. “Sustainable security is only possible when law enforcement and the public work hand in hand,” he said.
DIG Fayoade noted that the tour is being carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to assess security structures and reinforce operations across the South-West. He directed the Oyo Command to intensify patrols and strategically deploy personnel and resources to identified flashpoints.
The Oyo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, safeguarding citizens, and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders to build a safer society.
