ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday visited Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio at the State House in Freetown, where both leaders discussed issues relating to peace, democratic governance and regional cooperation in West Africa.
Jonathan, who disclosed this on Tuesday on his Facebook page, hinted that the visit was undertaken in his capacity as Special Envoy of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Economic Community of West African States Commission, and as Chairman of the West African Elders Forum.
According to the former president, discussions during the meeting centred on matters of mutual interest and strategies aimed at strengthening peace, stability and democratic governance across the West African sub-region.
Jonathan also emphasized the importance of regional cooperation among ECOWAS member states in addressing common political and security challenges confronting the region.
He expressed appreciation to President Bio for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him during the visit, describing their engagements as fruitful and cordial.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by regional leaders and diplomatic stakeholders to promote stability and democratic consolidation within West Africa.
