NYSC hits 35 members with service extension, repeat in Bayelsa

 YENAGOA- Thirty-five members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), mobilised for the 2023 Batch A, Stream II service year in Bayelsa, have been sanctioned by the Corps for various offences against the service code. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 21 corps members, who committed various offences, had their service year extended, while 14 would repeat the service. Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo, State Coordinator of NYSC, told NAN on Sunday in Yenagoa that 1,075 Corps members passed out successfully and were issued their certificates of national service. Okpalifo congratulated corps members who successfully completed the service and commended them for their  immeasurable contributions to the state. She also commended the employers and traditional rulers of various host communities for providing a conducive environment for corps members to serve the nation. She particularly appreciated Gov Douye Diri for his welfare packages and for ensuring the safety of  corps members. According to her, corps members that distinguished themselves during the service year were rewarded with certificates of commendation. COVID-19 Vaccine Not Compulsory – NYSC Tells Corps Members

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Friday, has told corp members that the COVID-19 vaccine is not compulsory but they should take it to for personal protection against the ravaging coronavirus. He also urged prospective corps members to be security conscious at all times, warning that they should not put themselves in harm’s way. According to a statement by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, the Director-General spoke during a nationwide virtual address to the 2021 Batch ’A’ Stream II prospective corps members ahead of their official induction in the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps across the country. NYSC Releases Postings for 2020 Batch ‘B’ Stream II, Warns against Night Travel

By Chris Udochukwu Abuja (Precise Post) – The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has announced the release of postings for prospective 2020 Batch B Stream II Corp Members. He disclosed this during a sensitisation webinar, DG further urged those concerned to check the NYSC site to know the states they are deployed to. “I want to inform the prospective corps members that their postings have been released. They can go and check it right now.” Ibrahim said corps members would be allowed into approved camps nationwide starting from January 19, 2021 which is a day later than the January 18, 2021 that was earlier announced. Some of the guidelines given to prospective corps members include: Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) should avoid travelling at night to the Orientation Camps PCMs travelling for distances ( North to South or vice versa) should break their trip into two stages and avoid making one long trip that stretches into the night.
