OWERRI (PRECISE POST) — The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has issued a strong warning to officers and personnel under his command to desist from unlawful phone searches, extortion, harassment, and any form of human rights violations, particularly those targeted at youths.

Imo State Police Command, said CP Danjuma emphasized that such misconduct will not be tolerated and would be met with severe disciplinary measures.
He further reiterated the existing ban on the use of unmarked vehicles by tactical teams, declaring that shuttle buses are strictly prohibited from being used for patrol duties across the state.
“The use of unmarked vehicles for patrols has led to numerous complaints of harassment, intimidation, and extortion. These incidents will be thoroughly investigated, and any officer found culpable will be held accountable,” the statement read.
The Commissioner also cautioned against the over-detention of suspects, underscoring the need for all officers to respect constitutional rights and adhere to global best practices in policing.
As part of efforts to ensure compliance, CP Danjuma directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Unit Commanders to strictly monitor their personnel. He noted that commanders will also be held vicariously liable for any misconduct committed by their subordinates.
“The Command remains committed to professionalism, discipline, and accountability in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police,” CP Danjuma affirmed.
The Imo State Police Command urged members of the public to report any cases of extortion or police misconduct to the Command’s X-Squad Unit or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) via 08148024755 or 08134783532. Citizens are encouraged to make timely reports for prompt intervention.
