The defendants are: Jinadu Azeez, 26; Olubiyi Sunday, 24; Kodaolu Oluwatobi, 34; Monday Abayomi, 27; Adegboyega Toheeb, 30; Adegbite Sulaiman, 26 and Ayobami Tunde, 27.
Delivering the judgment, Magistrate F.A. Daudu discharged and acquitted the seven men on all counts, citing lack of credible evidence from the prosecution.
Earlier, the Prosecutor ASP Olaide Rawling had told the court that the offences were allegedly committed between April 22 and April 23, 2024 at Galaxy Hotel , Vespa/Okenla Ifo Area, Abeokuta.
Rawling said the first and second defendants, Azeez and Sunday, conspired with others still at large to commit felony by allegedly parading themselves as members of the Aiye secret cult.
She added that the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh defendants conducted themselves in a manner considered unpleasant in a public place, leading to their arrest based on suspicion.
Rawling said the offences allegedly committed contravened sections 34, 36, 45(b) of the Prohibition of Forcible Entry and Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Anti-violent and Other Related Offences Law of Ogun 2006 and 70 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun.(NAN)
