MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer following the retirement of long-serving chief executive, John Ugbe.
The company said in a statement on Monday that Omotosho’s appointment takes effect from January 2026.
Ugbe is retiring after nearly 15 years at the helm of the pay-television company, during which he steered the business through significant changes in the media industry and Nigeria’s evolving market landscape.
Omotosho brings more than two decades of experience spanning media, telecommunications and digital services across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.
She has previously held several senior roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.
Before her appointment, Omotosho served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations across seven countries.
Reacting to her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as one of the group’s most strategic markets and expressed enthusiasm about leading the company.
“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important time. Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets,” she said.
“I look forward to working with our teams and partners to strengthen our relationship with customers, promote local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”
The company noted that Ugbe’s retirement and Omotosho’s appointment followed a structured transition process designed to ensure continuity and operational stability.
