Sokoto State — In a remarkable act of compassion, members of the Obidient Movement in Sokoto State marked the 64th birthday of former presidential candidate Peter Obi by visiting Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital, where they gifted ₦5,000 each to over 100 patients to help cover medical expenses.
The initiative, driven by Peter Obi’s philosophy of people-focused leadership, was part of a larger, nationwide outreach celebrating his birthday.

Speaking during the visit, Abubakar Yawale, chairman of the organising committee in Sokoto, highlighted that the donation was a reflection of Obi’s commitment to human-centred politics.
“This is the kind of politics Peter Obi represents: people-centred, compassionate, and impactful. Our principal has always shown that true leadership is about service. We’re simply living out those values by supporting those in need,” Yawale stated, as reported by Punch.

Yawale also revealed that similar charitable activities were being held simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, underscoring a coordinated show of solidarity and compassion by the Obidient Movement.
He recalled Obi’s prior visit to Sokoto, where he commissioned community development projects, including a borehole at Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
“Peter Obi has consistently demonstrated his commitment to serving Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion, or political affiliation,” Yawale added.
He explained that the donations were voluntarily contributed by members of the movement, aiming to mark Obi’s birthday in a way that truly uplifts lives.
“People across Sokoto and Nigeria should see who genuinely cares for them. Peter Obi and the Obidient Movement remain dedicated to building a Nigeria where quality healthcare, education, and dignity are universal rights, not privileges,” he said.
Yawale concluded by urging Nigerians to stay hopeful for the country’s future, describing Obi as a credible, transformative leader ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Peter Obi Donates ₦15 Million to UNN Dentistry Faculty
In a related development, Peter Obi recently donated ₦15 million to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu State. The donation was aimed at addressing the faculty’s accreditation challenges.
Obi confirmed this on his X page, explaining that the faculty had requested about ₦40 million to upgrade laboratory facilities and increase its graduation quota as part of a re-accreditation process.
