The mother of the three children who suffocated to death last Sunday in the capital of Kwara State, Ilorin, Shade Silifat Abdulkadir, has spoken out about the horrific event. During a press conference discussing the final moments of the departed kids, Shade, 37, pleaded for Nigerians to support her. The first child, Maryam, was 10 years old; the second child, Nudrah, was 8 years old; and the third, Mohammed, was 2. All three children died after suffocating in the car parked in their residence. It was gathered that the vehicle was borrowed by their father from his elder brother. Speaking at her family house, Ile Magaji, Taiwo Isale, in Ilorin, Shade pleaded with all mothers to come to her aid. Narrating the incident, Shade said, “It happened on Sunday around some minutes to 2:00 pm, shortly after I finished cooking rice for them. It was my second daughter, Nudrah, who told me that she would not eat rice in school the next day (Monday) and that she would prefer spaghetti. “I have money in the shop and N700 in my Opay account but was left with cash of N200 only. ILORIN- Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday arrived Ilorin to deliver the 13th Convocation lecture of the Al-Hikmah University, an Islamic faith based institution. A yet-to-be-identified man and resident of Lekki Face One, Eyenkorin Area in Ilorin Kwara State capital, on Sunday reportedly set his own house on fire. The terrible incident, according to the spokesman of the state fire service, Hakeem Adekunle, in Ilorin on Sunday, occurred at about 10:28hrs. He said one Mr. Kola living in the neighborhood was the one who quickly summoned the fire brigade service to the fire outbreak. Unilorin Expels 400level Student Who Beat Up Lecturer

Salaudeen Waliu Aanuoluwa has been expelled by the management of the University of Ilorin, according to a report by NaijNews. The student with the matriculation number 17/55EJ198 was expelled for assaulting a lecturer in the university. The decision was reached after he was brought before the institution’s students’ disciplinary committee on Monday, 15th November 2021. Fire guts shopping plaza in llorin

An inferno on Wednesday gutted a shopping plaza on llofa Road in the GRA area of Ilorin. The Director, State Fire Service, Mr Falade Olumuyiwa told the News Agency of Nigeria that the fire, which begun at about 1am, destroyed valuables worth millions of naira. Olumuyiwa said the fire was immediately put out by men of the fire service under an hour. He said about six out of the 13 shops in the storey building were destroyed by the fire. Olumuyiwa urged residents to always put off all electrical gadgets whenever they were not at home or their offices. Mr Azeez Bello, who owned a saloon in the plaza, said he lost all his valuables to the fire. Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court on Wednesday issued a bench warrant on Mr Sikiru Solagberu, the counsel for one of the eight accused persons facing trial in the murder of Blessing Olajide, a student of the University of Ilorin. Olajide was raped and murdered in the Tanke area of Ilorin on June 2, 2021. The eight accused persons being prosecuted on 11 counts are Abdulazeez Ismail, Ajala Oluwatimileyin (aka Jacklord), Oyeyemi Omogbolahan, Abdulkarim Shuaib (aka Easy), Kareem Rasheed (Rashworld), Abdullateef Abdulrahman, Daud Adebayo (aka Bashman), and Akande Taiye Oladoja. The case, however, took a dramatic turn when the presiding judge ordered the police to arrest Adebayo’s lawyer, Solagberu, for making uncomplimentary remarks about the Tuesday proceedings on television and social media.
