Jerusalem / Tehran (Precise Post) – The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets carried out a series of precision airstrikes against multiple military targets inside Iran, resulting in the deaths of seven high-ranking Iranian defence officials.
The attack formed part of a wider aerial campaign that has sharply escalated tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement posted on the X handle of Isreal Defence Forces on Saturday, the IDF said its fighter jets “precisely struck military targets across Iran,” eliminating senior members of Iran’s defence leadership.
The officials named by the Israeli military as killed in the strikes were: Ali Shamkhani, Mohammad Pakpour, Saleh Asadi, Mohammad Shirazi, Aziz Nasirzadeh, Hossein Jabal Amelian, and Reza Mozaf
The IDF’s terse message included the remark that “the world is a better place without them,” underscoring the force’s characterisation of the operation as a significant blow against what it described as threats posed by Iran’s military establishment.
According to Israeli officials, the strikes targeted key figures involved in Iran’s missile programmes, strategic weapons development bodies, and senior command positions within the country’s military hierarchy. The operation reportedly followed intelligence indicating that multiple senior leaders had assembled at specific locations in Tehran.
Iranian authorities had not independently confirmed the deaths of the individuals listed by the IDF as of the latest reports. The strikes come amid broader hostilities between the two countries, which have drawn in allied forces and sparked concern among international leaders about the potential for wider regional conflict.
The military action follows other reported waves of strikes across Iran’s territory involving hundreds of targets and the participation of substantial Israeli air power, in what the Israeli military has termed one of its most extensive aerial campaigns in decades.
