By Callistus Agwaza JALINGO – A military officer identified as Gideon, attached to the state anti-kidnapping joint taskforce has stabbed a police officer, Miracle Philip in the early hours of Saturday in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital. Speaking to our correspondent on Phone, the victim narrated that he got information that there was a problem with the boys who stay in the same area with him and so he went out to know what it was, when he was arrested along side the boys, taken to the NSCDC headquarters where he was stabbed twice by the soldier. “I heard that there were some issues so since the boys involved are boys that I know and we stay in the same area, I went there to know what was happening. When I got there, I saw them lying on the floor so I identified myself and asked what was happening. Instead, the military officer asked me to go down. Tension in Jalingo as Varsity students go on rampage

By Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo Jalingo, the Taraba State capital is in chaos as students of the state owned University are on rampage over cancellation of their semester examinations. Both academic and Non Academic staff of the school resolved to boycott the examinations which was billed to start on Monday following the state government’s refusal to pay their ten months outstanding salaries. Students who arrived in school on Monday morning ready for their examinations found the examinations halls locked and became agitated. Our correspondent reports that shortly before midday however, the agitations which were basically mild at first became violent as students started burning tires on the roads and blocked major roads in town obstructing movements. The students who are currently matching to the Government House and leaving a trail of confusion in their wake are insisting that if the state governor fails to clear the issues for them to take their examinations, their would be no elections in the state.
