CBN okays appointment of new executives for Union, Keystone, Polaris banks

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has approved the appointments of new board of directors for Polaris, Union, and Keystone banks. The appointment is coming a few hours after the apex bank dissolved the board of directors governing the deposit money banks. A statement issued on Thursday morning by the CBN acting Director of Corporate Communications, Sidi Hakama, said the appointment takes immediate effect. In the statement, CBN named Yetunde Oni, the first female CEO of the Standard Chartered bank in Sierra Leone, as the Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank. Mannir Ubali Ringim was appointed as the Executive Director of the tier-2 bank. Similarly, Hassan Imam was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Keystone Bank, while Chioma Mang got the position of Executive Director. For Polaris Bank, CBN appointed Lawal Mudathir Omokayode Akintola as the Chief Executive Officer and Chris Ofikulu as its Executive Director. N25.7b fraud: Bank PHB ex-MD Atuche jailed six years

By Our Reporter Abuja (Precise Post) – Former Managing Director of the defunct Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank) Francis Atuche was Wednesday sentenced to six years imprisonment for N25.7 billion fraud by an Ikeja High court. His co-defendant, Ugo Anyanwu, was also sentenced to four years imprisonment. The duo was convicted in 21 of 27-count charges against them. Atuche and Anyanwu were sentenced to six and four years on each of the 21 charges. The sentences will run concurrently. Justice Lateefat Okunnu said the convicts must make restitution as contained in Count 4, noting that the amount stolen was not up to what was alleged in the charge. The judge discharged and acquitted Atuche’s wife of charges of conspiracy and stealing. She held that the EFCC failed to link her to the crime, adding that suspicion no matter how strong can not take the place of fact. Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, announced this while hosting a delegation from PAN and Keystone Bank, led by the Chairman of Pan, Hon. Keystone Bank Building Collapses in Lagos, Killing One

By Our Reporter Lagos – A storey building under renovation said to belonging to Keystone Bank, located at Palmgrove, along Ikorodu Road, suddenly, collapsed Saturday evening killing a yet to be identified male labourer in the process. According to report, the incident occurred at about 7.20 pm. Director General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident. Oke-Osanyintolu said that emergency rescue team, comprising of Lagos Fire Service, Police, Lagos State Building Control Agency, (LABSCA), among others, promptly, raced to the scene and subsequently, put the situation under control. At press time the immediate or remote cause of the collapse could not be ascertained. Source
