Kidnappers have abducted nine children and grandchildren of the  Emir of Kagarko in  Kaduna State, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.  The incident occurred on Sunday night. Although the police authorities are yet to comment on the incident, a youth leader in  Kagarko Local Government, Adamu Abubakar, told Channels Television that the gunmen invaded the Emir’s Palace at about eleven o’clock at night and went straight to the apartments where the children and the youngest wife are living. He said that the bandits took away the Emir’s wife and the children. But while the bandits later took them away, the woman escaped from them while the whereabouts of the children, who are mostly minors, are unknown. Adamu also disclosed that during the operation, three other members of the community were abducted by bandits while a herder was killed at Kuchimi village during the attack.

No fewer than 40 people were abducted by bandits during a church service at Bege Baptist Church, Madala along Buruku Baringi road in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.  The state chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna state Chapter, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, who confirmed the incident in an interview with newsmen, said the gunmen invaded the church on Sunday morning, May 7, 2023.  According to Rev. Hayab, 15 worshippers later escaped while the remaining 25 are still in captivity.  “The worshippers were in the Sunday service around 9:30 am when they heard gunshots very close to the Church. The gunmen attacked the Church and went away with 40 worshippers,” he explained.  “Along the way, somehow 15 of the kidnapped persons returned remaining the rest 25 who are presently in captivity without any word from their abductors.” Hayab said that efforts are being made to get in contact with the abductors concerning the remaining people and prayed that the abductors would be merciful to release the remaining 25 back to their families. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Jos reporter of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Abdulwab Babankanti, and three of his friends on the Bauchi-Jos highway.  A family source who confirmed the incident said Babankanti and other victims were abducted on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Toro community while on transit from Bauchi to Jos. ?We got to know of their abduction when the kidnappers called to confirm that they kidnapped them,? the source told The State of Plateau news portal.  He further said the kidnappers are demanding N10m ransom to free the victims. 

I mo State Unknown gunmen have abducted the Sole Administrator of Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Christopher Ohizu, and also burnt his home in an attack carried out late Thursday night, January 19. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen rained bullets on the premises of the politician and then whisked him away with the bullet wound he sustained. It is also alleged that a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress(APC)  was abducted by the gunmen during the attack. “We don’t know what is happening again, people are running away, we are tired of what is happening here, they shot the sole administrator and took him away, we have complained several times and nothing is being done” an eyewitness said This is coming less than a week after the home of the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties, Ugochinyere Imo, was attacked at Akokwa community in the Ideato North LGA, with three persons killed and about 33 vehicles razed.
