Local government chairmen in Borno State must remain in their respective areas and sign the attendance register four times a day to demonstrate their presence. Governor Babagana Zulum gave the directive on Monday in Maiduguri while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the 27 elected council chairmen. OYSIEC presents Certificates of Return to 32 elected LG chairmen

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the 32 newly elected chairmen of the local government council areas in the state. The presentation was held on Monday at the OYSIEC headquarters in Ibadan. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 32 chairmen were elected during the local government election held on Saturday, May 22, across the state. Mr Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), the OYSIEC Chairman, charged the new chairmen not to disappoint the people who elected them to oversee the affairs of their respective local government council areas. He charged them to be dutiful and also ensure they fulfilled the promises made during their electioneering. “They campaigned vigorously in every nook and cranny of their local government areas, and have now emerged chairmen. Fund Mismanagement: Councilors Impeach Nasarawa LG Chairman

It was gathered that security operatives, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, have been drafted to the local government secretariat to forestall any breakdown of law and order. Zamfara: Matawalle Fires 14 LG Chairmen , Reappoints 8 as Sole Administrators

Zamfara (Precise Post) – Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has sacked the chairmen of the 14 Local Government Areas in the state and re-appointed eight of them as sole administrators, The House of Assembly on Thursday dissolved local government councils in the state over financial recklessness and improper record-keeping by the council members. The immediate LG chairmen, who were sacked and reappointed as sole administrators, were Ahmed Balarabe, Muhammad Umar, and Nasiru Masama. Others include Abdul-Aziz Nahuche, Salisu Dangulbi, Shehu Faru and Lawali Abdullahi.
