Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has strongly dismissed claims by Marlian Music boss Naira Marley that he was never involved in the challenges his son faced before his death.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Aloba insisted that his son endured harassment and mistreatment while under Marley’s watch, despite the label boss publicly denying any wrongdoing.
Aloba revealed that he personally confronted Marley after Mohbad shared disturbing experiences with him, only to later witness incidents that confirmed his son’s claims.
He further disclosed that even Marley’s close associate once reported cases of physical assault against Mohbad.
“I went to see Naira Marley over some of the things Mohbad had said. But later, I witnessed situations myself. There were about three other people present then—two of them are still alive today. They worked with Naira Marley, though they were younger and under him. One of them even came to report that Naira Marley was beating Mohbad,” Aloba recounted.
The grieving father also addressed speculations that his visit to Marley was financially motivated.
“When we went to apologise, he wasn’t even respectful. People think I went there to collect money, but life is more than just what I want to eat,” he added.
This revelation adds another layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death, which continues to stir public conversations about the struggles he endured during his lifetime.
