ABUJA (PRECISE POST – Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Türkiye aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the solid minerals sector as both countries seek to deepen economic ties and expand investment opportunities in mining.
Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, disclosed this on his X handle on Monday, stated that the agreement would enhance collaboration in areas such as mining technology, mineral exploration, digitisation, and capacity building.
Alake said the partnership represents another significant step in Nigeria’s efforts to develop a transparent, secure, and investor-friendly mining industry capable of attracting serious global investors.
According to the minister, the Federal Government has, over the past three years, implemented major reforms in the sector, improved the ease of doing business, and intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities.
He noted that the reforms are already yielding positive results by restoring investor confidence and increasing international interest in Nigeria’s solid minerals industry.
Alake also commended the growing interest shown by Turkish investors and government officials in expanding cooperation with Nigeria in mining, energy, and hydrocarbons.
He stressed that strategic partnerships such as the Nigeria-Türkiye agreement would play a crucial role in unlocking the country’s vast natural resource potential, driving economic growth, and creating jobs for Nigerians.
