ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has urged staff of the Commission to embrace improvement through continuous learning, diligence, and personal development as pathways to productivity and better service delivery.
Bishop Adegbite who stated that “the biggest room in life is the room of improvement” made this call in Abuja on Tuesday at a capacity-building workshop for staff of the Commission organized by the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
The training was on the Productivity Measurement and Improvement Scheme in the Public Sector.
In a press release signed by Celestine Toruka, Director, Media & Public Relations of the Commission, made available to Precise Post, the training, themed “Moving from Common Knowledge to Common Practice,” was aimed at equipping staff with practical knowledge and approaches to improving productivity, efficiency, and overall performance in the public service.
Speaking to participants, the Executive Secretary emphasized that productivity begins with an individual’s attitude to work, adding that staff ought to approach their responsibilities with seriousness and commitment, and genuine dedication.
Shun “eye service” and always do what is expected of them, even when no one is watching. “You must be diligent in your duty. Do not wait for your superior to be around before you do your work. Your commitment should come from within, because every responsibility entrusted to you matters,”he said.
He further admonished that each staff member needs to take ownership of their responsibilities by giving in their best to ensure that the Commission operates effectively.
According to the Bishop, the Commission’s slogan, “Service and Satisfaction,” means that professionalism, integrity, and excellence must remain at the heart of their daily activities.
Beyond the level of theory, “Let what you have learned here become part of your everyday practice. We must move from common knowledge to common practice,” the NCPC boss said.
Bishop Adegbite expressed appreciation to the team from NSIWC for sharing their expertise with staff, noting that continuous capacity development is essential to building a competent, efficient, and productive workforce.
