A major fire outbreak has destroyed the Training Office of Sun Watt’s Solar and Electrical Company in the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, engulfing the upper floor of the Salinsile building, where the company is located. Electrical appliances and training equipment worth several millions of naira were reportedly lost to the blaze.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, as investigations are ongoing.
Confirming the incident, the Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Fire Service Reform and Chairman of the Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, said the fire was reported through the emergency line at exactly 6:12 p.m. on October 2, 2025.
He explained that firemen, led by CFS Olayiwola T.K., responded promptly and were able to contain the flames before they spread to other sections of the building.
“The Training Office of Sun Watt’s Solar and Electrical Company was completely engulfed, but our officers acted swiftly to curtail the fire. Properties worth millions of naira were saved. No casualties were recorded. The cause is still under investigation,” Akinwande stated.
He advised residents and business owners to prioritize safety by installing fire extinguishers and contacting emergency lines—08067439223, 08054353501, or 615—in case of emergencies.
Fire incidents have become a recurring challenge in Ibadan, with major outbreaks in recent years, including the 2020 Dugbe Market inferno and the 2023 Bodija Plank Market fire, which led to losses running into billions of naira.
