MAIDUDURU- (PRECISE POST) – Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, has condemned the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad, describing the attack as barbaric and unacceptable.
Muhammad and his associate, Yakubu Isah, were reportedly ambushed and killed by armed men on Saturday while returning from a peace meeting in Benue State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Moro said no individual has the moral or constitutional right to take the life of an innocent and unarmed citizen, stressing that every life is sacred and must be protected.
The lawmaker called on security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.Moro also welcomed the swift condemnation of the killings by Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, but argued that the tragic incident could have been prevented if the state government had been more proactive in fulfilling its constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and property of residents.
He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and urged all stakeholders to work together to address the worsening security situation in the state.
“The attack is barbaric and unacceptable. All lives matter, and nobody has the moral and constitutional right to take the life of an innocent and unarmed person,” Moro said.
The senator further appealed to residents and relevant authorities to unite in tackling insecurity and restoring lasting peace across Benue State.
