ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has congratulated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olaka Nwogu, on his victory in the Rivers South East Senatorial District bye-election.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Senate Minority Caucus, Moro described Nwogu’s triumph as a significant achievement for the PDP and a reflection of the party’s growing acceptance among voters.

This was contained in a statement signed by Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader made available to Precise Post in Abuja.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Nwogu winner of the Saturday bye-election after he secured 47,961 votes, defeating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 1,647 votes.

Moro attributed the landslide victory to what he described as the increasing popularity of the PDP and the commitment of the party’s national leader and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to the Senate Minority Leader, Wike’s leadership is helping to reposition the PDP and restore the party’s winning culture ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He assured party members and supporters of his continued efforts to strengthen the PDP at all levels as preparations for future electoral contests gather momentum.

Moro also congratulated Nwogu on his election and warmly welcomed him to the Senate, pledging to provide the necessary guidance and support to ensure a smooth and productive legislative career.

MARKURDI (PRECISE POST) – The Senate Minority Leader and senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has commissioned a newly constructed and fully equipped Primary Healthcare Centre at Udegi-Ito in Obi Local Government Area and a PCI water project at Okpoga in Okpokwu LGA of Benue State.

According to the statement signed by the Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, made available to Precise Post on Monday, speaking during the commissioning ceremonies held on Saturday and Sunday, Senator Moro said the projects were part of his efforts to bridge the infrastructural deficit in Benue South, which he attributed to years of neglect and abandonment by the Benue State Government.

He assured the people that he would continue to use his office to attract projects capable of improving the living conditions of communities across the district.
According to the senator, the wellbeing of his constituents remained a top priority, revealing that he had completed twelve healthcare centres across Benue South, which would soon be unveiled.

Moro urged the benefiting communities to protect the facilities from vandalism and disclosed that he would approach the National Youth Service Corps to deploy medical personnel to the Udegi-Ito healthcare centre pending the recruitment of permanent staff.
“I entered politics because I want to make a difference. I don’t talk much; I let my works speak for me,” he stated.

The senator noted that the newly commissioned borehole was historic for the Udegi-Ito community, saying residents had searched for potable water for decades without success.
“For over 100 years, the people in Udegi have looked for water, today we have found water here,” he said, adding that more boreholes would be drilled in surrounding communities.

Earlier, the Acting Ad’Utu Obi, Chief Emmanuel Odeh Obagi, commended Senator Moro for bringing the healthcare centre and solar-powered borehole to the community, describing the projects as unprecedented in the area.
He also praised the ongoing reconstruction of the Otukpo-Obi-Oju road, facilitated by the senator, noting that it had significantly reduced travel time between communities in the axis.

Chief Obagi described the borehole as the first functional one in the community after several failed attempts in the past and assured the senator that residents would safeguard the facilities.

The contractor handling the projects, Frederick Agada, appreciated Senator Moro for the opportunity to execute the healthcare centre and rehabilitate the PCI water project. He also thanked the communities for their cooperation during the construction phase and urged them to protect the facilities.
Several dignitaries and political stakeholders who spoke at the events, including youth leaders, community elders, party officials, and political candidates, lauded Senator Moro for what they described as impactful representation and sustained development projects across Benue South.
Highlights of the ceremonies included the cutting of tapes by retired Major General Odeh Ede at Udegi-Ito and Hon. Anyebe J. Agada at Okpoga.

ABUJA NIGERIA. – The senate seat of the governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who hitherto represented Edo Central Senatorial District in the senate was on Wednesday declared vacant by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

During the valedictory session held in honour of the governor, Senator Akpabio, reading a letter submitted by the Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro PhD, declared the seat vacant and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a by-election to fill the vacancy, the statement signed by the Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, made available to Precise Post on Thursday said.

In the letter submitted to the President of the Senate, Senator Abba Moro PhD, had emphasized the requirements of Section 68(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which states that a federal lawmaker’s seat becomes vacant upon his/her assumption of another public office and called on the Senate President to notify INEC to organize a fresh election for the senatorial district.

Accordingly, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio declared the seat of Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State vacant. Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa have since been inaugurated as governor and deputy governor respectively following the conduct of the September 21 2024 governorship election in Edo state.

ABUJA NIGERIA – The training on Agricultural Value Chain Skills Acquisition organized by the senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro PhD for his constituents in Abuja, on Friday came to an end.

At the closing ceremony, Senator Moro said the training was packaged for his unemployed constituents to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for agro-allied businesses. He said at a time when white-collar jobs are not available for the teaming unemployed youths, agriculture should be embraced, moreso that the sector has become a gold mine.

According to the statement signed by Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, made available to Precise Post, the senator charged beneficiaries to properly utilize the skills and knowledge acquired for self reliance and creation of job opportunities for others.

He wished them well in their various endeavours while promising to continue with his empowerment programs for the people.

Beneficiaries thanked the senator for his efforts aimed at alleviating the sufferings of his constituents. They said Senator Moro had shown leadership and capacity, and assured him of their continued support and prayers.

A total of 200 beneficiaries drawn from across Benue South particpated in the training, which started on Monday, 2nd December.

ABUJA FCT – Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro PhD, on behalf of the senate minority caucus, mourns the demise of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

Precise Post recalls that Lagbaja died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

Senator Moro describes the late COAS as a gallant and successful officer who gave his all to the country and died in active service, the statement signed by the Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John said.

The Senate Minority Leader says Gen. Lagbaja’s time as Chief of Army Staff saw a great push against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping that are plaguing the country.

He says as the nation mourns the untimely demise of the gallant officer, he hopes that his successor would fit perfectly into the shoes left behind and frontally tackle the security challenges confronting the country and continue to protect her territorial integrity, to achieve the late General’s dreams of a secured and peaceful nation.

Senator Moro extends his heartfelt condolences to the wife of the deceased, Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, the entire family, the President and Commander-In-Chief of armed forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Nigerian Army. He charges them to be consoled with the knowledge that the late General lived an impactful life and has gone to rest with his creator.

The Senate Minority Leader sends his heartfelt condolences to families and friends of those who have lost their lives and properties, and identifies with the governments of the affected states, the statement from Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John said.

The senator calls on the federal government and relevant government agencies to take urgent steps to evacuate those trapped and also ensure conducive environment for those displaced and in IDP camps.

Senator Moro urges Nigerians in danger zones to be at alert and not hesitate to move to safer places to avoid being caught up in the web of the rampaging floods.
