Revealed! Why Fury’s Heavyweight Title Bout With Usyk Was Postponed

By Chris Udochukwu Tyson Fury has been forced to postpone his unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk after the British heavyweight suffered a “freak cut” above his eye during a sparring session in Riyadh, Queensberry Promotions announced Friday. Fury’s World Boxing Council title and Ukrainian fighter Usyk’s World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organisation belts were all set to be up for grabs in Saudi Arabia on February 17. Instead the wait to find heavyweight boxing’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000 has been delayed just 15 days before the eagerly-anticipated bout was due to take place. “I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such superb condition,” said the undefeated Fury in a statement. “I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed,” added Fury, who boasts a professional record of 34 wins and one draw. “I can only apologise to everyone affected.” Queensberry said the cut, above Fury’s right eye, “required urgent …

WBA, IBF, WBO titles: I’ll destroy both of you in one night – Tyson slams Joshua, Usyk

Tyson Fury has slammed Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk after their rematch on Saturday night. Fury believes that with what he saw from both men last night, he could actually ‘annihilate’ them in one night. Fury, also known as Gypsy King, is adamant that he sees nothing to fear from both boxers. Joshua seemed to be cruising to victory after a 9th round performance by the Briton but Usyk responded masterfully, taking charge of the match from tenth and final two rounds, which saw him on his way to victory. One of the judges gave it to Joshua with 115-113, but the other two judges awarded Usyk 115-113 and 116-112, respectively. He was crowned the victor by split decision and Joshua was obviously angered by the decision, throwing the Usyk’s belts out of the ring while storming out. The Nigerian-British fighter, however, returned to the ring where he delivered an emotional speech, hailing his Ukrainian opponent and telling some personal life stories. One of the judges gave it to Joshua with 115-113, but the other two judges awarded Usyk 115-113 …

Tyson Fury, Wilder separated after furious row at press conference

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were prevented from a face-off as insults and expletives filled the air at an ill-tempered final press conference on Wednesday for their heavyweight world title fight. Fury puts his World Boxing Council heavyweight belt on the line in Las Vegas on Saturday when he meets Wilder for the third time, 20 months after knocking out the American in their second fight. Wednesday’s press conference — broadcast live on US television — saw profanities and sparks fly as Fury taunted Wilder over the circumstances of his defeat to the self-styled “Gypsy King” last year. As the barbs escalated, the host of the press conference sought to bring both fighters together for a traditional face-to-face stare-down — only for Fury’s promoter Bob Arum to veto the confrontation. Fury and Wilder — who clashed at a press conference ahead of their first fight in Los Angeles in 2018 — were hustled off the stage shortly afterwards. It brought an end to a fractious encounter at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, which turned ugly when Fury confronted Wilder over …

Due to the upcoming Olympics, the boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could be further delayed.
