The First Lady of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, has fired back at Senator Uche Ekwunife, the APC deputy governorship candidate, over what she described as “false and malicious allegations” against her family.
Ekwunife had earlier alleged that Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife were part of the administration of the late Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju (1999–2003), while also facing scrutiny regarding her own academic records.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday, Mrs. Soludo dismissed the claims and dared Ekwunife to take a public oath of fidelity and subject their families to DNA tests.
“In my 55 years on this planet, I have known only one man, Chukwuma Soludo. I never worked under anyone, and I never met the late Dr. Mbadinuju. These are verifiable facts,” she stated.
The First Lady further challenged Ekwunife to swear an oath before the Blessed Sacrament in any cathedral, pledging to do the same with her children. She also proposed that both families undergo DNA tests at three reputable hospitals in London, offering to cover all costs.
“If it is confirmed that your husband is the father of all your children, I will not only congratulate you but also reward you with a cash gift,” she added.
Mrs. Soludo demanded that Senator Ekwunife retract her statements and issue a public apology within 72 hours, warning that legal action was already being considered.
Responding, Senator Ekwunife played down the challenge, insisting her earlier remarks were only “friendly advice.”
“Mrs. Soludo owes me no explanation on family matters. If my words caused her discomfort, she should explain to her husband, not me. I am not involved in her family affairs,” Ekwunife said.
The exchange has since sparked heated reactions across political and social circles in Anambra State, with many awaiting whether the matter will escalate into a legal battle or fizzle out as a war of words.
