Abuja, FCT — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors for holding a political meeting in Zamfara State, despite ongoing violence and mass killings in the region.
This comes after the PDP Governors’ Forum had earlier warned Nyesom Wike and other stakeholders not to interfere in its upcoming national convention scheduled for November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
ADC Condemns “Insensitive” Meeting
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 24, 2025, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the meeting as “insensitive and disrespectful” to the victims of recent attacks in Zamfara.
He pointed out that while 144 people were kidnapped, 24 killed, and 16 injured across several local government areas, PDP governors chose to “stage a political rally at the scene of mass murder.”
“Instead of rallying around their colleague to confront the killings, they chose to grin for the cameras, wearing ceremonial robes, just days after dozens were brutally killed. This act alone proves that neither the ruling APC nor the crisis-ridden PDP cares about the people’s suffering. All they care about is power and politics,” Abdullahi said.
Tinubu Administration Also Under Fire
The ADC also slammed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for failing to curb insecurity in Zamfara and Katsina States, describing the persistent violence as a failure of governance.
ADC’s Call for Change
Meanwhile, Interim National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, urged party members and coalition partners to prepare for a fresh political alternative that will resonate with Nigerians.
He emphasized that the ADC’s focus is to build a credible and people-centered platform, assuring citizens that the coalition is determined to stand apart from the political establishment.
Fake List Warning
The party also disowned a fake list of state chairmen circulating online, warning members and the public to rely solely on official communication channels. It further cautioned against fraudulent registration sites, reiterating that it has not authorized any online payment process.
