I extend my heartfelt New Year greetings to our President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR @officialABAT, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As we welcome the New Year, I extend my warmest wishes for a prosperous and rewarding 2025. May this year provide you with the strength and wisdom needed to lead our great nation.
We will continue to support your efforts to strive for unity, progress, and the betterment of all citizens.
I also convey my best wishes to His Excellency Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON @KashimSM. I pray that Almighty Allah continues to grant you the strength and wisdom to support our beloved leader, President Bola Tinubu as you fulfill your responsibilities as Vice President.
To all Nigerians and stakeholders in the agricultural sector, I emphasize that this New Year marks a new chapter filled with opportunities, growth, and a renewed commitment to enhancing food security, supporting farmers, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across the nation.
Reflecting on the past year, while we have celebrated significant achievements, we also acknowledge the challenges that remain.
As we step into 2025, my dedication to ensuring food security and sustainability is stronger than ever. I call on the government, farmers, and all stakeholders to unite in building a resilient agricultural sector that can withstand the challenges of climate change and meet global demands.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Agriculture has set plans in motion for several new initiatives in 2025, including:
1.Enhanced Support for Farmers: We will strengthen programs for smallholder farmers by improving access to resources, technology, and funding through increased financial assistance and training opportunities.
2.Promotion of Eco-Friendly Farming Practices: New initiatives will encourage sustainable farming methods and provide advanced equipment to enhance agricultural productivity.
3.Improved Food Distribution Systems: Efforts will continue to ensure that vulnerable communities have access to nutritious food through diverse community programs.
4.Deployment of Tractors and Heavy Equipment: Tractors and other heavy-duty machinery will be distributed nationwide to help farmers expand their cultivated land.
5.Smart Agriculture: We are introducing a new initiative to promote greenhouse farming and family garden projects, which will encourage sustainable food production at the household level.
In addition, I am committed to promoting private sector involvement in the federal government’s food security program.
Our vision is to create an environment where financial institutions are encouraged to fund agriculture, enabling both smallholder farmers and large-scale investors to access credit and improve their production capacity.
This New Year is a call to action for all of us. Together, let us strive to achieve a thriving agricultural sector that ensures food security and sustains our nation’s growth.
