A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 presidential election is almost certain due to the collapse of opposition structures into a pro-Tinubu coalition.
Kwankwaso, who is the Director of Finance at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, stated this on Thursday while speaking on the recent inauguration of the campaign council.
According to him, what is playing out ahead of 2027 is unprecedented in Nigeria’s political history, as politicians who have never agreed to sit together are now uniting behind one candidate.
“To me, the inauguration of the Campaign Council is like a congregation celebrating the re-election of President Tinubu back to office. What else remains when the same Nigerians we are supposed to campaign for have collectively come forward in unison for one person — Tinubu?” he said.
He said the presence of key figures linked to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Accord Party in the Tinubu camp shows a widening acceptance of the President’s leadership and economic reforms.
Kwankwaso referenced comments by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo and other opposition figures, saying their endorsement of the administration’s economic policies shows they understand the nation’s challenges and the realities of the global economy.
“It has never happened in Nigeria’s political history that one man could attract nearly all opposition parties, not only opposition politicians, but people who have never agreed to sit together, yet because of Tinubu, they have accepted to come on board and pursue a common goal,” he noted.
The Kano-born politician argued that the 2027 poll should be seen beyond Tinubu’s personal political ambition, but as a critical point for Nigeria’s economic future, stressing that the President needs more time to consolidate his reforms.
On Kano politics, he predicted that the national alignment would be replicated in the state, expressing confidence that leading political actors would collaborate to deliver victory for President Tinubu and secure a second term for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo.
