Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has addressed viral reports claiming he was arrested in London after a domestic altercation with his wife, Natasha.
A blogger had alleged that 2Baba missed his UK tour performance on Thursday because he was detained for alleged domestic violence. The rumor quickly spread across social media, sparking heated debates among fans.
Reacting via Instagram, the superstar debunked the claims, explaining that his absence was due to a serious medical emergency, not an arrest. He thanked fans who turned up for the show and assured them that plans are underway to reschedule.
“First of all, to everyone that came out, I appreciate you. We had a medical emergency, it was tough. To the organizers and everyone that came out, we go regroup and make something beautiful happen. And please, if una no sabi something, make una no talk abeg. This allegedly, I don tire,” he said.
Meanwhile, 2Baba’s management team, ‘A Guy Entertainment’, dismissed reports that controversies surrounding his private life are affecting his career.
The company’s Head of Legal and Communication, Chioma Ebubedike-Igbokwe, insisted that Idibia’s legacy remains intact, noting that today’s global Afrobeats dominance stands on the foundation laid by pioneers like 2Baba.
She stressed that the singer’s management is focused on building more platforms to ensure his voice and influence remain relevant rather than competing with the new wave of artistes.
Despite the rumors, fans and industry insiders continue to celebrate 2Baba as one of the greatest figures in African music history.
