ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Dr Karl Von Battan has alleged that he recently received an unsolicited offer of $3 million and an invitation to a confidential meeting in London from what he described as a “highly placed individual” allegedly connected to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Von Battan, in a post on his X handle on Friday, claimed that he was informed that the individual was linked to the Nigerian president and suggested that the offer was an attempt to persuade his firm to discontinue its campaign concerning what he described as President Tinubu’s alleged heroin-trafficking records.
According to him, he rejected the offer and immediately preserved screenshots of the alleged exchanges before forwarding the evidence to the United States Department of Justice.
“I refused the offers, immediately preserved screenshots of the exchanges, and forwarded all the evidence to the U.S. Department of Justice,” he said.
Von Battan further alleged that the FBI and DEA have records relating to heroin-trafficking allegations concerning President Tinubu, while expressing surprise that major American media organisations, including CNN, The Washington Post and The New York Times, had not reported what he described as a “shocking story.”
He questioned what he characterised as the media’s silence, particularly regarding alleged efforts by the previous Joe Biden administration to block the release of documents relating to drug-trafficking allegations involving an African president.
Von Battan also criticised The Washington Post, invoking its well-known slogan, “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” while accusing the newspaper of applying its scrutiny selectively to former President Donald Trump and Republicans.
“It seems The Washington Post’s slogan, ‘Democracy Dies in Darkness,’ applies only when The Washington Post is scrutinizing President Donald Trump and Republicans,” he wrote.
He concluded by declaring that “true journalism in America is dead” and tagged the Republican Party, White House and White House Press Secretary in his post.
The allegations made by Von Battan, including the claimed $3 million offer, alleged connection to President Tinubu, and claims concerning FBI and DEA records, could not independently be established from the remarks alone.
