OSOGBO – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Dotun Babayemi, has urged traditional worshippers to use the annual Isese celebration to pray for the development and unity of the country.
Babayemi, in a statement on Wednesday in Osogbo, also enjoined them to always ensure continuous peaceful coexistence among adherents of other religions in the country.
Reports that today, Wednesday had been declared as a public holiday in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Osun for the celebration of the annual Isese traditional festival.
While congratulating the traditional worshippers on the celebration, Babayemi urged them to ensure their various laudable cultural engagements are sustained and enlivened so as to be appreciated at the global level.
According to him, this will encourage more foreign tourists to cultivate the habit of seeing, knowing and appreciating the people’s cultures across the Yoruba-speaking states.
Babayemi, one of the APC aspirants for the August 8, 2026, governorship election in the state, also urged residents in the state to participate fully in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
He said their participation would have impact on the governorship election as well as the 2027 general elections that would actualise the second term of President Bola Tinubu. (NAN)
