ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Senate on Thursday, November 6, 2025, confirmed the nomination of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following his screening and approval during plenary.
Dr. Udeh, who currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State, hails from Ozalla in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. Widely respected for his distinguished career in law and public administration, he was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ministerial appointment.
During the screening session, several senators engaged the nominee on key national and legal issues. Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing Cross River South and the youngest member of the upper chamber, asked Dr. Udeh how he planned to contribute to the Federal Executive Council given his legal background.
In response, Dr. Udeh emphasized that his vast experience in research, governance, and administration would enable him to make meaningful contributions beyond the legal field.
Senator Adamu Aliero of Kebbi Central also sought the nominee’s view on the ongoing debate about separating the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation from the Ministry of Justice. Dr. Udeh noted that while such separation has its merits, the effectiveness of the system ultimately depends on the integrity and professionalism of the officeholder.
After extensive deliberations, the Senate unanimously affirmed Dr. Udeh’s competence and confirmed his appointment.
Presiding over the session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended President Tinubu for his continued commitment to appointing qualified Nigerians into strategic positions under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
