ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead a government-to-government peer exchange aimed at accelerating nutrition delivery in Nigeria.
Shettima’s visit followed an invitation from Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, who is championing the country’s multi-sectoral approach to improving nutrition.
According to a statement posted on the Vice President’s official X handle, Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit.
The forum is designed to provide an opportunity for key stakeholders from both countries to share experiences and strategies for building effective federal, state and local government compacts on nutrition.
During the visit, the Nigerian delegation is expected to exchange experiences with Ethiopian officials on how government-led programmes can strengthen nutrition delivery and improve outcomes across communities.
The delegation will also tour selected establishments involved in Ethiopia’s nutrition and food production initiatives as part of efforts to gain practical insights that could inform Nigeria’s approach.
The scheduled visits include a wheat farm and banana plantation in Oromia, the ‘Bounty of the Basket’ Training Centre and selected households in Mojo, as well as Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
Precise Post recalls that the exchange is expected to deepen bilateral learning and strengthen collaboration between Nigeria and Ethiopia on nutrition-focused government interventions.
