ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Federal Government has intensified its drive to ensure greater accountability, efficiency and measurable performance across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The move reinforces President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm position that non-performance will no longer be tolerated in any government institution.
This renewed focus on institutional accountability took centre stage at the MDA High-Level Strategic Engagement and Press Briefing organised by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
The engagement, with the theme “MDA Data Collection & Harmonisation,” was hosted under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele.
Present at the session was the Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, alongside other key government stakeholders.
At the event, Princess Audu presented key findings from the Business Environment Enhancement Programme Accelerator (BEEPA).
Her presentation highlighted significant progress recorded across federal MDAs, but also pointed to persistent performance gaps and the urgent need to institutionalize accountability.
According to the assessment, 16 MDAs have achieved full implementation of the reforms evaluated. However, recent mystery shopping exercises revealed a noticeable decline in responsiveness after the conclusion of active monitoring.
The PEBEC DG used the opportunity to remind heads of MDAs of the ongoing mystery shopping exercises, the live performance tracker and the forthcoming end-of-year Business Facilitation Act (BFA) Compliance Ranking.
She stressed that these tools are designed to provide continuous visibility into institutional performance, expose service delivery gaps and ensure MDAs remain accountable for their reform commitments all year round.
The engagement also underscored the Federal Ministry of Finance’s resolve to factor institutional performance, responsiveness and reform compliance into its future dealings with government agencies.
This approach is in line with President Tinubu’s zero-tolerance stance on non-performance and the Federal Government’s determination to ensure public institutions deliver tangible results and improved services to Nigerians and businesses.
PEBEC reaffirmed its commitment to translating reform commitments into sustainable outcomes through continuous monitoring, real-time digital tracking, BFA compliance assessments and data-driven evaluation.
The Council noted that the era of mere paper compliance is over, and what is now required is measurable performance, continuous accountability and real results that build a more efficient, transparent and business-friendly environment.
