Abuja (Precise Post) –  Veteran Nigerian entertainer and outspoken social activist/critic, Charles Oputa better known by his stage name Charly Boy in an article on his Instagram page has opined that Igbo businessmen are no longer safe in the country as they appear to be the most hated.

This is coming on the heels of the money laundering allegation trailing Air Peace boss, Allen Onyema.

In his article, Charly Boy used the case of Onyema complaining some few years back about his frustrations as a genuine business man who only wanted to provide service and make money.

Onyema at the time had complained that badly thought out economic policies by the federal government is frustrating to business and that aircrafts sent for servicing were stranded because of the crunch on foreign currency. As a result of this ‘senseless policies’, millions of dollars are lost.

Charly Boy went on to add that he became a fan of Air Peace after Onyema made the patriotic sacrifice of flying Nigerians in South Africa back to Nigeria in the wake of xenophobic attacks earlier this year.

The entertainer then questioned why the government did nothing  about the killings as he wondered if it has anything to do with the tribe of those involved.

On Igbo businessmen being hated, he wrote in part:

“In this country these days Igbo business Men no safe at all. They seem the most hated in the country. I just no dey understand. Is it a crime to come from the southeast and also be a successful businessman.”

Referencing Jim Nwobodo of the now defunct Savannah Bank, Cletus Ibeto of Ibeto Cement, Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Motors and Allen Onyema of Air Peace, Charly Boy opines that there is too much injustice in the land hence why there is a call for Biafra.

He concluded his article writing:

“Igbo’s usually excel because they work hard and no matter the oppression they always rise to the challenge. You can’t stop the river from flowing. You can tackle them all you want but they will forever keep on trucking.”

Known for his criticism of the actions and inaction of the Nigerian government, the Area Fada as he is fondly called is one of the many Nigerians that condemned the result of the 2019 election. Shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari was announced winner of the election, Charly Boy hailed him and his ‘cabal brothers’ for how smartly they operated in the politics of Nigeria.
