The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, for qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) currently holding in Morocco.
Akpabio praised the team following their 2–0 victory over Algeria in a quarter-final match played on Saturday in Marrakech, describing the Super Eagles as the pride of the nation.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President commended the players for their discipline, resilience, and teamwork throughout the tournament.
“I heartily congratulate the Super Eagles on their impressive 2–0 victory over Algeria, securing a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations,” Akpabio said.
He noted that the team’s performance reflects their unwavering dedication and commitment to national pride, adding that Nigerians at home and abroad are proud of their achievement.
Akpabio urged the Super Eagles to remain focused as they prepare to face host nation Morocco in the semi-final clash scheduled for Wednesday.
“We are proud of you. The 10th Senate and all Nigerians are firmly behind you, cheering you on to bring home the trophy,” he added.
Nigeria is seeking to clinch another AFCON title as the tournament enters its decisive stage in Morocco.
