ONDO- Mr Bode Ikulala, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has described the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari as painful and a big loss to Nigeria.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buhari died in a London hospital on Sunday.
Ikulala, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, said that Buhari’s death “was not expected at this time”.
He added that Buhari did his best as the president of Nigeria, and prayed that God would grant his family and President Bola Tinubu the fortitude to bear the loss.
Also, Mr Temidayo Temola, former Chairman, Joint Action Congress (JAC), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, commiserated with Nigerians on the death of Buhari.
According to him, Buhari was voted in through the “change” mantra.
“The change he brought was not the one Nigerians expected because they experienced hardship economically, socially and other aspects of life,” he said.
Temola prayed for the repose of his soul and prayed that God grant the family and the country the fortitude to bear the loss.
However, Mr Niyi Adesokan, a former Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Okitipupa Chapter, said that “Buhari’s death was expected”.
“He was always travelling for medication abroad during his reign as president.
“Buhari did his best to turn the nations fortunes around. May God grant his soul eternal rest,” Adesokan said. (NAN)
