Aregbesola Predicts ADC Will Unseat Tinubu and Capture Lagos in 2027

Former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has made a bold prediction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aregbesola declared that the ADC is determined to take power from President Bola Tinubu and capture Lagos State, describing the party as the future of Nigeria’s politics.

He made the statement on Saturday, September 14, in Lagos during an event where Hon. Moshood Salvador, leader of the Conscience Forum of the Labour Party (LP), officially defected to the ADC with his members.

The gathering also marked the 25th anniversary of the Conscience Forum and was attended by ADC leaders, zonal representatives, and members from all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos.

“Aso Rock is in sight”

Addressing the crowd, Aregbesola praised the Conscience Forum for its decision to join forces with the ADC, insisting that their combined strength would deliver victory both in Lagos and at the federal level.

“With the structure and determination of the Conscience Forum, Alausa is already within our reach. Together, we will take over the seat of power and meet at Aso Rock Villa,” he said.

The former governor unveiled a grassroots mobilisation plan tagged “ten over ten”, where each member recruits ten others who, in turn, recruit ten more, creating a chain movement.

“With this strategy, 2027 will mark the end of APC’s dominance. The ADC will produce the next president of Nigeria,” he added.

Salvador: Labour Party no longer a party of the future

Explaining his defection, Salvador said the Labour Party had been weakened by unending internal crises, which made it unfit to drive Nigeria’s future.

“Our members have chosen the ADC because it represents hope and stability. The Labour Party is no longer a party of the future. With our over 400,000 members in Lagos alone, we will strengthen the ADC’s structure from ward to state level,” Salvador stated.

Atiku backs ADC’s mission

This development comes after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also declared support for the ADC, vowing that the party would unseat President Tinubu in 2027.

Atiku maintained that Nigeria cannot become a one-party state and described the ADC as a rising force that has already reshaped the political landscape since its adoption by opposition coalitions.
