Eddie Howe’s Newcastle made it to the competition by finishing fifth last season.
Apart from qualifying for the Champions League, the Magpies also won the Carabao Cup, beating Liverpool in the final.
“My surprise would have to be Newcastle because people are already writing them off,” Beckham told CBS Sports when asked to name the team to surprise Champions League fans this season.
“I think Newcastle are a good team, and I think they’ve got some good players. They’re very together as a team, and as fans, and as a club. I think that they could surprise a few people.”
Newcastle United will begin their 2025-26 Champions league campaign with a game against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Thursday.
In the Premier League, the Magpies are 10th in the table having been only able record five points from the four matches played so far.
